Listen to Andalusian.
Andalusian is Ryan Lindsay’s return: a haunting alt-country murder ballad, solo-written as historical fiction of a stallion implicated in mysterious Northern gold rush folklore. The track was recorded live-off-the-floor and produced by Matt Pence at the Echo Lab, a barn-converted studio in rural Texas.

Andalusian
Andalusian. I worked on an Andalusian ranch through high school back in the day and this song was in part very inspired by my time working on that ranch.
A little backstory on the lyrics - loosely inspired by a story my Grandmother told me about an uncle of hers that went out on a hunt by Cadogan, AB. That evening, his horse brought him back home shot dead on the saddle. No one knew what happened at the time and so they chalked it up to an accident but years later wondered… was it really an accident?
I was on tour in Texas a couple of years ago when I wrote this song, alone in Austin cooped up in an AirBNB. I didn’t do much else for three days once I decided I should finish the story.
Of course, I took some creative liberties and made it a gold rush ballad, but that’s the beauty of songwriting - sometimes you have to stretch the truth to tell the truth.
This has been a long time coming - this is the first official single for my new full length record coming out this summer. My producer Matt Pence remarked one day “I think Andalusian would be the most dramatic way to debut the record.” And so in dramatic fashion, here it is. Andalusian - available everywhere now.
